WHAT IS WIRE SAWING?
Traditionally used for many years in quarries to saw through large chunks of granite and other premium quality stones, the wire sawing technique has since been perfected for use in the concrete cutting industry. It uses a diamond encrusted flexible steel wire on a series of pulleys to cut through the substrate.
Our hydraulic wire sawing system can be used to cut horizontally, vertically or at any other angle needed. The thinness of the diamond wire creates a smooth cut face leaving little work to do once the cut material has been removed. It is a flexible, speedy and fumeless solution which makes this one of the most versatile ways to remove large concrete, steel or masonry structures that traditional concrete cutting may struggle with.

HOW DOES WIRE SAWING WORK?
The beaded diamond wire or cable is threaded through a series of guide pulleys attached to the main drive wheel and then passed through or around the concrete/metal to create a full loop. The wire loop is then pulled continuously through the substrate until the cut is complete.
The saw itself is hydraulic or electric powered making it ideal to use on sites.
WHEN TO USE WIRE SAWING?
When confronted with issues with removing large areas of heavily reinforced concrete or large metal structures, diamond sawing is the perfect technique. When access is limited and using other methods of removal or demolition aren’t possible, such as in the removal of concrete columns and beams or in our case study of removing a 3 tonne steel plant room engine from the roof top of a central London building.
