What is the difference between hole cutting and core drilling?
Core drilling produces a circular hole using a rotating cylindrical bit. Hole cutting covers any method of creating an opening — including saw cutting a square or rectangular penetration, or stitch drilling an irregular shape. We select the right technique based on the opening size, shape, and location.
What sizes of hole can you cut?
From a 12mm core to a multi-metre structural opening. For square or rectangular penetrations we typically saw cut the perimeter and break out the middle. For circular holes above 600mm, we use stitch drilling.
Do you carry out scanning before cutting?
Yes — always. Before cutting any penetration through a structural element we carry out a ferro scan to locate rebar, and a GPR scan if post-tension cables or buried services are suspected.
Can you cut holes through walls as well as floors?
Yes. We cut horizontal penetrations through walls, vertical penetrations through slabs and floors, and angled bores for drainage falls and service entries. Wall saws and track saws deliver precision cutting on vertical faces with clean, straight edges.
