About Us

Britannia Cutting Services Ltd was founded in 2006 by Melanie and Patrick Southin. It has since gone on to become one of the leading diamond drilling companies in the South East of England and has become incredibly well known within the drilling and sawing industry for our excellent service, a friendly and reliable team and precision diamond drilling and cutting. Our repeat business and recommendations received from clients alone is testament to this.

A little modern history: In late 2023 Britannia Cutting Services Ltd traded owners in a management buy out and is now in the proud hands of Laura and Terry. The company has been family run for nearly 20 years with Mel and Pat’s son and nephew both still standing as directors within the company (the second generation). The aim of the new owners will be to continue the hard work and dedication to this fantastic industry and move onwards and upwards into new territory and work on even more interesting projects. Being approachable and friendly is what makes us different and we intend to keep it that way.

Alongside new owners, Britannia Cutting Services Ltd (which, lets face it, was a bit of a mouthful) has been shortened! Going forwards we will be known as BritCut. With this new shorter and more modern name, the scaled approach to solving complex concrete cutting and drilling challenges the company will be brought into the future and, in the words of Pat himself “go stratospheric”.

A little more about BritCut

We are a CHAS, Acclaim and ConstructionLine Accredited company and our management team have nearly 100 years combined experience in Diamond drilling and management. All of our operatives are accredited under the Construction Industry CSCS scheme and hold valid cards. All our operatives either hold their level 2 NVQ in diamond drilling and sawing or are working towards them.

We are also members of the Drilling & Sawing Association (DSA), the only UK organisation who defines the standards of work carried out in our specialist area through a comprehensive code of working practices, NSCC and British Safety Council.

The future of BritCut looks bright with plans to introduce an apprenticeship programme to reinvigorate the ageing workforce within the industry and ideas for how to upskill operatives and office staff.
